Nassau County Water Rescue Association

ABOUT US
Mission
The Nassau County Water Rescue Association was established in 2011 to address the critical needs of Nassau County Fire Service and Public Safety Agencies providing Water Rescue Response in Nassau County Long Island. The Association's primary mission was to foster inter-agency operability and communications in the event of a significant maritime or water related emergency in Nassau County. Through NFPA, Nassau County Fire Service Academy, and NYSOFPC compliance, drills, training, certifications, regional risk assessment and informal meetings, the association strived to create uniform protocols and offer technical assistance, training opportunities and communications that made inter-agency operations safer, more efficient and more effective within the many facets of water rescue. With the many agencies on Long Island that excel in water rescue operations, our association engaged in promoting this shared collection of knowledge of operating procedures, techniques and equipment to advance accepted water rescue principles and move them to a new level of safety.
In 2019, the Nassau County Water Rescue Association helped Nassau County Fire Commission create the Water Rescue Advisory Committee to officially represent the fire departments in Nassau County who perform water rescue services.
In 2020, the NCWRA became an official 501c3 corporation titled Nassau County Water Rescue Association, Inc. Currently our mission is to foster networking, information sharing and education through donations for any person, agency, corporation or entity in the maritime industry for emergency response or corporate operations.
